Contumacious, That's Me!

con·tu·ma·cious
adj. Obstinately disobedient or rebellious; insubordinate.

I'm feeling this towards all the folks on television that tell us that Mr. Obama is the savior of the world; and as such, we must all fall into line and be good little cows and follow the herd mentality for the "good of the country." I refuse to leave my brain at the door, as so many seem to have done already. I prefer to check facts, compare history, and look at the BIGGER picture rather than just what will make ME feel better.

Perhaps it's wrong to feel so contumacious...but this is my new word and I'm sticking to it. I plan to use it quite regularly for the next few years, so you'll need to learn it.

Although no one would ever make the mistake of thinking I have even a nodding acquaintance with fashion, I also disagree with all the talking heads and fashionistas on television this morning. Personally, I thought Michelle Obama's dress (for the inauguration) looked like it was made out of drapery material. My mom used to have curtains like that. With limitless money, her good figure, and all the colors of the rainbow. She chose that? Ummmmmm....

Now that I've had the audacity to disagree with the news media and this world's savior, I'll be expecting the Secret Service on my doorstep by nightfall...they'll have to come through the puppy poop...hope they wipe their feet...but that's another story altogether...

Okay...I've let it out...I HAD to say something...I'm done.

I'll try to be less contumacious at The Pine. I'm working on choosing only to think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and are of good report like Paul told the Philippians in Chapter 4...it's a constant battle...guess I need to quit watching television altogether...

Stay tuned.

Agreed and Amen, Sista! I'm not checking my brain at the door, either.

Well you can call me cuntumacious as well, cause I'm not falling in line either!

Yeah, I find that not watching TV or reading the news helps immensely :-)

I saw the dress and said ewww but the media is going to like it. So predictable.

Of course I agree with you on the savior and herd front. I do think the style of Mrs. O's dress was good for her and the weather, but a different color would have been much more flattering. Still, it is a big step up from the atrocity she wore election night. Yikes!

I heard women chatting at the GC store about how it was no one's business what the first family wore. I wasn't sure who they were upset with. How funny!

I must agree that you are very contumacious today. Thanks for telling us how you really feel. If there's one thing I can't stand it's trying to guess how someone really feels. I don't have to worry about that with you! :)

Hummmm contumacious indeed. Are you sure you don't mean contentious? I believe we can use our brains and have independent opinions without being contumacious. As followers of Christ I don't think we want to be cows in the heard of negativity either. I think I would look for a different word and attitude for the next few years.

Stay positive Ms. Mary! Our God reigns!

Ms. Nag

P.S. I'm thinking "savior of the world" is a natural progression from king.

Now, Ms. Naggy...You must not have read the WHOLE thing!

In the very beginning I said I was feeling contumacious towards all the folks on television trying to herd us like cows. Not to EVERYBODY!!

Also, lest you think I WASN'T listening to the Pastor's sermon last night...I listened carefully...and nothing I've blogged contradicts...except maybe I should still love those "tv" folks. Never said there wasn't room for improvement!

One more...if you had read the almost last paragraph you would see that I have decided to think on better things...

Love you too!!!!
